SPIRULINA
This blue-green algae is AMAZING! There are so many health benefits that come from using Spirulina.
About eight months ago, I became really interested in learning about “Super Foods”. I started researching, and found that there are so many things that I had never heard of that could benefit my body and immune system. One of them being Spirulina. It is incredible what this powerhouse can do for your health! One of the things I learned was how it can create new immune cells. WHAT?! Not only does it help build up the ones you have, but it stores “extra” immune cells in places like your liver and appendix to give anextra kick to sicknesses your body may be trying to fight off. Spirulina is also one of the purest things you can ingest. It contains virtually no toxins because it is at the bottom of the food chain. Therefore, it is packed with tons of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and protein.
After lots of research and finding so many good things about it, I decided to give it a try. Now, for the past seven months, my husband and I have been taking it daily. There was no drastic change in my body after I started taking Spirulina, however I have noticed that it helps “clean me out” and restore my energy. Especially after a weekend of indulging on unhealthy foods. We take it in the form of vegetarian capsules, but it also comes in powder form, which is great for adding to smoothies! I hope this has helped educate you a little bit, and thanks so much for reading! Below is the recipe for the smoothie bowl featured at the top of the page. Enjoy!
